Unless a signed client agreement says otherwise, this website and most enquiries are handled by Data Dune Information Technology - FZE. If an engagement contracts through Data Dune ltd, that agreement identifies the relevant controller for that work.

If you enter your email address into a sign-up form on this website, the following applies, and nothing beyond it:

What is stored. Your email address, the date you signed up, and which page you signed up from. No name, no company, no tracking profile, because none of those are asked for.
Where it is stored. On Data Dune’s own server, in a file that is not reachable from the web. The list is not held by a third-party email platform, so your address is not passed to a marketing provider when you sign up.
What it is used for. Sending the monthly email, and sending any free resource you asked for at the point of signing up. It is not used for anything else, it is never sold, and it is never shared.
How to leave. Reply to any email with the word stop, or write to [email protected]. Your address is deleted from the file rather than flagged as unsubscribed.

The lawful basis is your consent, given by submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time, and doing so does not affect anything sent before you withdrew it.

Website analytics

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits. It records the pages you view, the site or search that sent you, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser, and whether this browser has been here before. Google receives your IP address and sets analytics cookies. Google advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off, so nothing here feeds advertising.

Data Dune reads only the totals, to see which pages are worth keeping and whether the site leads to enquiries. Google processes the data under its own privacy policy.

Analytics runs only on the live datadune.io site. It does not run on development copies.

Embedded video

Some pages on this website show a recording of a conference talk. The video is hosted on YouTube, which is owned by Google.

Nothing is requested from YouTube or Google when the page loads. What you see before you press play is a still image and a play button served from this website, so no data reaches Google and no cookie is set unless you choose to watch.

If you press play, the video is then loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, and at that point Google receives your IP address and information about your device and browser, under its own privacy policy. Data Dune does not receive anything from Google about who watched, and does not know that you pressed play.

The lawful basis is your consent, given by pressing play. To withdraw it, reload the page and do not press play again. Every talk on this site is also linked as a plain YouTube address, so you can watch it elsewhere if you prefer.

Data retention

Personal information may be stored for an extended period depending on use. Email address and name are kept while an account exists. Billing information may be kept for an extended period to maintain internal transaction records.

Data Dune shares information only with affiliates that Data Dune has fully vetted and partnered with, and only for the following purposes:
